Hanako Kimura

Originally from Kyoto Prefecture, currently lives in Osaka City. Graduated from Doshisha University’s Faculty of Literature Aesthetics and Arts.

While she working as a commercial photographer for advertisements and magazines, she began creating own art project works on the side in 2011.

She creates conceptual works around a core statement about to touch upon the vast gray zone that lies between things that have been captured on the meaning of opposites, such as “existing” and “not existing”

In recent years, she has been also using expressions other than photographic , such as sculptures, collages, drawings, and installation art.

When she won the grand prix at the competition “UNKNOWN ASIA 2018”, she presented a work that combined neon lights with photos and actually turned on blue light.
