We are pleased to announce “colors,” a solo exhibition by contemporary artist Kana Uwatoko at tagboat gallery on the 7th floor of Hankyu MEN’S TOKYO, Ginza.
Born in Kagoshima, Japan in 1995, Uwatoko graduated from the Illustration Department of Nippon Designer School in 2016, and started her career as an artist by participating in our sponsored art event “Independent TAGBOAT ART FES 2016”. Today, her works have a strong presence and is so popular that new releases are immediately sold out.
Influenced by Yokai (Japanese monster) illustrated reference books and decorative sculptures of temples and shrines, Uwatoko depicts Japanese motifs in a simple yet divine and lively way. This time, based on the concept of “color,” she creates Yokai lurking in everyday life in various shades of color.
This will be her fourth solo exhibition at tagboat, where new works will be exhibited and sold. Please take a look at the world of mysterious Youkai transformations that beyond human knowledge.
