Tagboat gallery is pleased to present “Tomboy,” a solo exhibition by contemporary artist Kai Ono.
Kai Ono, a young and promising artist, explores the beauty and intrigue within intentionally crafted objects since his time at Tokyo University of the Arts. His distinctive sculptures have garnered attention in the art scene and he has been featured in various media.
Ono began creating art in high school, using materials like gypsum, terracotta, FRP, and paper, chosen to complement the theme of his work. His fusion of sculpture and visual effects creates a captivating blend of beauty and intrigue.
The centerpiece of this exhibition is the impressive sculpture “Prism-Aureola,” born from Ono’s graduate thesis. It highlights moments when nature and humanity intersect in our daily lives. The “Prism Series” consists of seven acrylic yarns in vibrant colors, inviting you to experience the irregular shapes and surface transformations.
We invite you to experience the potential of sculptures that inhabit space, emerging from their interaction with the world around them.
