We are pleased to present a solo exhibition titled “Morning” by contemporary artist Mayu Shiomi at tagboat gallery.
Mayu Shiomi has steadily built her career since receiving the Excellence Award in Sculpture from the Aichi Prefectural University of the Arts Graduate School in 2016. She has been recognized through exhibitions such as Rokko Meets Art, Tokyo Building Brillia ART AWARD, and the Okamoto Taro Contemporary Art Award.
Inspired by the influence of new culture and punk rock from her upbringing in Shibuya, the artist creates dynamic sculptures using aluminum foil and denim, as well as installations composed of various materials and media.
In this exhibition, themed “Myth of Ready-made,” Shiomi explores the materials of various exhibited works without consistency, aiming to pursue experiences beyond the ego and inner peace. Approximately 20 new works, including sculptures, paintings, drawings using burlap bags, will be showcased.
We invite you to experience the essence of joy in creating new things and the pursuit of accepting the unknown.
