We are pleased to announce the solo exhibition “Neo-Cloisonnism” by contemporary artist Antakanta at Tagboat Gallery.
Antakanta explores the theme of “a world where thoughts become reality,” through his unique artistic expression known as “Neo-Cloisonnism.”
His work is characterized by bold outlines and comic-like depictions that forgo traditional perspective and gradients, using classical oil painting techniques. By applying the historical “Cloisonnism” style, known for its thick, dark contours and flat color areas seen in 19th-century French painting by artists such as Paul Gauguin, he redefines this approach in a modern context as “Neo-Cloisonnism.”
The exhibition will feature 28 new works, themed around the journey of the imaginary character, Mariakanna. Depicted by Antakanta since his elementary school days, Mariakanna embodies a playful sense of “freedom” through his artworks. Visitors can also enjoy the exhibition alongside the specially composed piece, “Outsmart the Devil and Run.”
We invite you to experience the creative journey of Antakanta and Mariakanna.
