We are pleased to announce “Naughty,” a solo exhibition by contemporary artist Mikiho Yoshida at tagboat’s gallery space on the 7th floor of Hankyu MEN’S TOKYO, Ginza.
Mikiho Yoshida has the exceptional talent of having been accepted as an student into the oil painting department of Tokyo University of the Arts right after graduating from high school, where only 5 percent of the applicants will be accepted.
Under the theme of “cultural inheritance and mutation,” she re-creates her own fables and customs from unique folk tales and uses them as tools for cultural inheritance, expressing the stories in pop and Showa-retro colors.
She is one of the most remarkable young artists, with all of her works sold out at the “tagboat art fair 2022” held in March of this year. Using the technique of chimeric painting, in which paintings made with different materials coexist on a single canvas, she explores the culture have created and how it is transmitted, and approaches the true nature of human beings.
In Yoshida’s first solo exhibition at tagboat, we will exhibit and sell oil paintings including her new works. Please come and see the works of Mikiho Yoshida, who translates old tales from books with a modern sensibility.
