We are pleased to announce “Contour,” a solo exhibition by contemporary artist Kanekota Kanao at the tagboat gallery on the 7th floor of Hankyu MEN’S TOKYO, Ginza.

Kanekota Kanao combines monsters and everyday objects to create works with a unique touch that fuses street art and animation. This year, following the art event “tagboat Art Fair 2022” sponsored by our company, Kanekota Kanao will also exhibit at “Art Fair GINZA”, and the new work will be sold out immediately.

The theme of this new work is noise and layers, and the monsters are depicted in a style that is a mixture of characters and graffiti from 1980s animation. Monsters inside people, monsters inhabiting discarded objects, etc., are alluding to Japanese animism as seen in the legend of the mourning god, or the overflow of information that is too much to process in our information-oriented society.

In this solo exhibition, Kanao’s second at tagboat, eight new works will be exhibited and sold. Please come and see the uncertain world hidden inside Kanao’s pop colors and different forms.
